Before you just start adding my dependency, I recommend you to get acquainted with one of the build tools. This will make it easier for you to understand the next section.

Determine which Minecraft version you are using. A higher Minecraft version allows you to not have to shade the dependency.

Dependency does not working

It can happen that the dependency changes. For example, the GroupId has changed in different versions. That the GroupId changes is very rare. Often only then to avoid possible errors. The same is true for the ArtifactId.

Before you write to the developer, you should make sure that you have done everything correctly. Often there are problems that the user can solve himself. If the user writes me directly, he has to wait for an answer, which can vary from bigger to smaller. If you are sure that it is a bug that you can't fix, I ask you to report it on Github.
